Multivariate and location-specific correlates of fuel consumption: A test track study

Current predictors of fuel consumption are typically based on computer simulations or data collections in real traffic, where the route and vehicle type not under researcher’s control. Here, we predicted using test track data, an approach that allowed for location-specific predictions. Ninety-one drivers drove a total 4617 laps, two vehicles (Renault Mégane, Renault Clio), routes (highway mountain), with eco-driving instructions (normal eco). A multivariate analysis at level laps showed strong predictive value metrics related to speed, RPM, throttle position, but considerable amount variance attributable type. subsequent correlation driving speed position fluctuated strongly during lap some locations even became negative. We conclude there is potential instantaneous prediction consumption.
